The Central House was established in 1895 as a stagecoach stop-over for merchants and travelers. It also housed a barbershop and restaurant. The Central House has carried on the tradition of the restaurant and is now in the process of restoring the upper levels.
The Central House is a location with a long history. It also has it's share of rumored paranormal lore. Some have reported a feeling of uneasiness and sightings of a dark mist in the basement. Could this be the man who reportedly violated a young girl and was later hanged.
A young girl died in a fire on the second floor and can still be heard playing in the room where she died.
The Fox Cities Paranormal Team conducted an investigation on August 9, 2009. We covered the main floor which consists of a bar/restaurant, large basement and two upper floors that are in various stages of restoration. A nine person team arrived at the location at 10 p.m. and concluded the investigation at 4 a.m. |
