The Central House was established in 1895 as a stagecoach stop-over for merchants and travelers. It also housed a barbershop and restaurant. The Central House has carried on the tradition of the restaurant and is now in the process of restoring the upper levels.

The Central House is a location with a long history. It also has it's share of rumored paranormal lore. Some have reported a feeling of uneasiness and sightings of a dark mist in the basement. Could this be the man who reportedly violated a young girl and was later hanged.

A young girl died in a fire on the second floor and can still be heard playing in the room where she died.

The Fox Cities Paranormal Team conducted an investigation on August 9, 2009. We covered the main floor which consists of a bar/restaurant, large basement and two upper floors that are in various stages of restoration. A nine person team arrived at the location at 10 p.m. and concluded the investigation at 4 a.m.

Investigation Results
During our investigation we worked in two three person groups, one two person group and one team member watching the four infrared cameras. There had been many reports of employees having the feeling of someone watching them, feeling creepy and seeing a dark mist. While investigating in the basement level we discovered very high EMF readings emanating from a hot water heater attached to the dish washing machine. In a small room which houses the electrical circuit boxes for the building EMF readings were very high. One of the boxes was giving off EMF readings ranging from 47 with the box door closed and 80 plus with the door open. This is a significant find because high EMF, (Electrical Magnetic Frequency) can cause nausea, headache, paranoia, and hallucinations. When electrical boxes and wiring are confined to an area and run and crisscross one another and create extremely high EMF reading it can cause what is known as a fear cage.

No one in the group had any personal experiences. There was no K-2 activity and no EMF readings other than those found in and around the electrical boxes and hot water heater in the basement.

After going over 60 plus hours of video and audio we have one "possible" EVP. We cannot say conclusively that this is an actual EVP (Electrical Voice Phenomenon). Listen and decide for yourself.
